Science and research, together with educational activities, represent the basic priority of the faculty. Scientific research activities include all basic fields of biomedicine. In addition to basic research, the faculty develops applied research, including the transfer of knowledge and technology to the commercial sphere.
Around 70 R&D projects are implemented annually at the Faculty of Medicine, most of them are applied in the sense of the impact of project results on health care, in the form of improved diagnostics, innovation and optimization of treatment procedures or development of active substances of new drugs.
The organisational and thematic structure of scientific research activities is shaped mainly by individual departments, institutes and clinics. In addition to the integrative intra-faculty cooperation, external cooperation with institutes of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Hradec Králové, University of Defence, departmental institutes, enterprises and foreign institutions is also important.
Students of master's degree programmes have the opportunity to prepare for scientific research work within the curriculum from the beginning of their studies. They compete with the results of their experiments every year at SVOČ conferences.
The results of scientific and research activities are presented at a number of regular scientific meetings.
The Scientific Conferences of the Faculty of Medicine of CU in Hradec Králové and the University Hospital Hradec Králové are part of the opposition procedure of grants of some grant agencies.
In addition, the research activities of doctoral students are presented at conferences of DSP students.
The yearly increasing prestige has International Medical Doctoral Conference held since 2005.
On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February), the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove presents, for example, interesting female doctors from the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove and the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove who are engaged in scientific activities in the form of articles and interviews.
The Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové regularly participates in the festival of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic called Week of the Brain, which is traditionally held in March, by organizing lectures and discussions for the general public on topics related to brain research and neuroscience.
The Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové is annually involved in the September scientific-popularization event Night of Scientists. Traditionally, it prepares for the public both a presentation program and an online broadcast on the faculty's YouTube channel.
