The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is commemorated annually on 11 February and was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in December 2015. It aims to commemorate the important role of women and girls in the world of science and also to encourage their participation in research activities, as their representation in science has long been underrepresented globally.

Many women and girls are active in science at the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove. That is why every year on the occasion of this day they present them with medallions or interviews.
