In the framework of international cooperation, the department has long been cooperating with the Canadian Dalhousie University in Halifax within the international Microcirculation Diagnostics and Applied Studies group (MiDAS). Outside of Canada, he also collaborates with the Mayo Clinic in the USA, Karolinska Institutet in Sweden.
